Matthew - the detour magnet

Matthew - the detour magnet

So Matthew came up to the lake with us last weekend (7/20/2007 - 7/22/2007.) Well of course there are some pictures that we took in the Gallery. They are in The Lake - Album - July 2007 - Album - Matthew at the lake 07/22/2007. But on to the story: On the way up to camp there was apparently a bad accident on the northway, so we wound up having to go up rt 9 to Malta in stop and go traffic before we could get on the highway. It wasn't too bad. We got to the lake a little later than normal, but it was ok.

Saturday we went out in the boat. I went wakeboarding Matt gave it a try also. Then we hung out at the camp, and I beat everyone at pool and darts. Sunday Brenda decided that since no one made a decision of what to do that we should do everything! So after breakfast we went out int he boat again, We dragged Matt around on the tube, and I went wakeboarding again
.

We went back to the camp, cleaned up, packed up and left to go on a little hike.

We hiked to the summit of Panther Mountain. It's only a 1.2 mile round trip hike, and a good view. Matt really wore Lucy out on the hike.

After hiking we headed to Lake placid where we played some Mini-Golf. After I slaughtered Matt and Brenda on the golf course we were going to head down main street and stop for dinner at the Chinese / Japanese restaurant.

Well this is where Matt's ability to attract detours comes in again. Sunday was the annual Iron Man competition in lake Placid, so the road was closed off. They were detouring people around Mirror lake, or so we thought. We decided to follow the detour and eat on our way home. Well the detour took us to exit 34 where we got on the highway around 40 mile north of the exit we would have got on. It was more than just a few minutes out of the way. Finally we stopped in Glens Falls at the 99 restaurant for dinner. Matt enjoyed harassing the waitress with baseball trivia while we were there... did you know that the only no hitter pitched in post season play was game 5 of the 1956 world series when
Don Larsen pitched a perfect game?

So we finally made it home around 10:30. No more detours!

A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream

No, not the Shakespeare play, it was Nickie and Joe's wedding! I guess Friday the 13th really is a lucky day. The weather was great (other than the few showers we had out on the course) The bride was beautiful, the entire event was wonderful.

We started the day out with a round of golf. Dave, Tom and I played 18 holes at the Mohawk River Country Club & Chateau where the wedding was held. it is a decent course, the greens are in great shape, and they are doing a lot of work on the fairways. Once they are done with it it should be nice. I hacked it up pretty bad, as usual. I don't think I will be trying out for the pro tour any time soon.

I could go on and on about the whole night, the effort that both Joe and Nickie put in to everything. They should start and event coordinator business together. But instead of me blathering on about it, I'll let some pictures tell the story. Of course there are hundreds of pictures in the Gallery, so head over there to check them out, but for now enjoy a few right here.

There are so many more pictures, it was difficult to limit what I showed here.

Quick update

So I know it's been a while since I have updated the site. There has been a lot going on though. There are a lot of new pictures in the Gallery. Dave and Denise tied the knot on May 26th. I have uploaded our photo's from the wedding, and if Dave ever gets me a copy of the CD from the photographer I will upload those also.

We spent a great Cinco de Mayo in New York City, had the best seats to a Yankee game that we probably ever will, Johnny Damon signed our cap. it was all good, and of course there are a lot of pictures from the day in the Gallery also.

We have mostly completed our remodeling at home, but I am sure there will be another project soon enough. For now we are trying to enjoy the summer up at the lake. I will have some pictures from the 4th of July to put up soon.

Joe and Nickie are getting married this Friday, July 13th. I am sure that again we will have a lot of pictures to post from that event also.

I guess that is about it. I will try to update the site more regularly... and of course there will be pictures... do I see a reoccurring theme in here? Man we take a lot of pictures.

Our Latest Project

So, we haven't updated the website in a long time. We know, but we have been busy working on a remodeling project at home. After thirteen years we are finally remodeling the master bedroom. Not a whole lot of other stuff going on. We are finally making progress on the project, and I thought I would upload some pictures.

We don't really have any before pictures. We didn't snap any until after we started to gut the room.

After we gutted everything we started to reframe the closets, and replace the subfloor.

We put in new windows, and installed a gas fireplace.

Installing the chimney was fun!

Finally we are starting to get the drywall up.

I am sure that we will have more pictures coming (hopefully soon) as we make more progress. And thanks to Steve-O (aka speed bump) for his help with the project.

Road trip - Christmas edition

They hate surprises!

For Christmas this year the boys (Scott, Steve and Tom) got together to plan a little surprise for the girls (Brenda, Becky and Alyssa.) So on the Morning of the 22nd of Dec we all hit the road. Becky, Steve, Brenda and Scott headed down the thruway, the girls not knowing anything about the destination. Tom and Alyssa hopped on route 84 heading west, Alyssa completely in the dark as well. We all arrived at the Beacon train station at around the same time. That was the first surprise when Alyssa, Becky and Brenda realized we were all headed to NYC together.

We arrived at Grand Central Station around 12:30 and walked over to Time Square to have lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe.

From there we headed up towards Central Park. We stopped at Mickey Mantle's for a quick look around and a drink before taking a horse drawn carriage ride through the park.

From the park we headed up 5th Avenue stopping at Tiffany's on the way to Rockefeller Plaza to see the tree, and the light show at Sach's. On the way we passed St Patrick's Cathedral, and all the Christmas window displays.

You can't help but be in awe of the city. There is no better place to be around the holiday.

After the light show we headed to dinner at a restaurant called Tuscan Square. The food was fantastic, the wine was wonderful, and the atmosphere was perfect. Steve was inspired to stand up and toast the entire restaurant wishing everyone there a merry Christmas.

Following dinner we headed back down 5th to F.A.O. Schwartz to look around a bit. That place is every kids (young and old) dream. We saw some huge stuffed animals, life sized Darth Vader and Santa made out of Legos, etc.

To cap the day we headed back up to Radio City to see the Christmas Spectacular. Aside from some rain at the end of the night, it was a pretty good day. We made it home by 3:00 am, and hopefully we'll get a little extra sleep this weekend to catch up.

I think the boys did good, and we somehow managed to keep everything mostly a secret. The girls were all upset that we kept everything a surprise, but I think they will get over it. As Always, you can click any of the images to see larger pictures, or go to the Gallery to see them all.

Merry Christmas.
