My 2009 To Do List

2008 is winding down in a hurry, just a few more hours to go. I can't believe another year has flown by. I have to say, I will not be sad to see it go. 2008 certainly will not rank as one of my favorite years. Really, it kind of sucked. So to try to make sure 2009 is better I am putting together a list. This is a list of things I want to do or accomplish in 2009. They are not resolutions, not things I want to change about myself, they are just some things I want to do.

So here goes, the 10 things I want to do / accomplish in 2009, in no particular order:

  1. Spend a long weekend in Cleveland. We are planning to spend a long weekend in Cleveland, see the sights, maybe head out to cedar point to ride the coasters, and definitely catch a baseball game when the Yankees are in town.
  2. Get a lot more use out of the boat than we did in '08. We barely used the boat last year, so this should be an easy accomplishment.
  3. Finish the outdoor bar at the lake. I always have too many unfinished projects. This is kind of a big one. This will probably be the toughest thing to accomplish this year.
  4. Actually spend time learning to speak Italian. I bought Rosetta Stone last year, and we just haven't found the time to use it. We never seem to have enough time to do the things we want to.
  5. Go on a vacation away from home. I can't believe it's been 9 years since we went away on a vacation. It was a good one 9 years ago, but that is way too long. A long weekend in Cleveland doesn't count. It has to be a little longer.
  6. Go visit people we have been promising to visit for a while. You know who you are, and we don't have to wait for autumn to do it either. This falls into the we never seem to have enough time category also.
  7. Clean out the basement. What more can I say... it's long overdue.
  8. Take some steps to advance my career. Get PMP certified to start. I would certainly like to make more money now, so i don't have to work till I am 80.
  9. Finish the tile project. I have 1 more room that I have been putting off, and just a little bit of trim.
  10. Generally enjoy life more. I am allowed one non-specific goal aren't I?
There it is, laid out in black and white. Maybe putting it out there for all to see will help motivate me to actually get these done. Maybe I will post on my progress as I cross some of these off. I encourage you to make your own list and hold yourself to getting some of the things that you want done.

And here's hoping that everyone has a safe and happy new year.
