So, we spent the weekend (Sept 13th - 14th) in New York City. As usual, we had a great time. I'll try to sum it up for you in 20 pictures or less...

We drove in early Saturday morning. Our hotel was in Brooklyn, so across the Brooklyn bridge, we went.

Brooklyn Bridge

We met up with Tom and Alyssa, and headed to Yankee Stadium for a game. We wanted one last chance to see a game at the old stadium, but the new stadium looks like it will be nice.

After the game (and a shower) we hopped a subway back to Manhattan to little Italy for the Feast of San Gennaro. I have never seen anything like it. The streets of Little Italy were filled with vendors, amazing food, and pastries, and crowds of people. We ducked in to a great restaurant for dinner. I highly recommend Il Palazzo on Mulberry St.

After a great dinner and nice Desserts, we headed back to the hotel. In the morning we did a bit of a walkabout back to what we thought was Moms old neighborhood... unfortunately after walking, and walking, and thinking we found the old house, and walking back, we found out it was the wrong address. So this is not a picture of where my Grandparents lived in Brooklyn.

Not the house

We headed back to Manhattan to the financial district and down to the World Trade Center Site. It is still a difficult place to visit, but construction is moving along, and things have changed a bit since we saw it 2 years ago.

After seeing the WTC site, we walked over to battery park city, and down to the ferry to the Stature of Liberty. Not sure what the sculpture in the second picture is supposed to be, but it was right down by the ferry?

When we got back from the Statue, we headed back to Brooklyn, and headed for home. On our way home we went to what we found out was the correct address of the old house, 369 3rd st, on the corner of 3rd st, and 5th ave. It is a beautiful neighborhood (just 2 blocks form where we were earlier.) The houses are great old brownstones, there is a coffee shop on the corner where my mother remembers the newsstand. A nice cafe across the street, and a park on the opposite corner. It really is a great neighborhood.

Then it was just a matter of driving home, another chance to cross the Brooklyn Bridge. This time we got a good view of the waterfall.

It was a good weekend. Did I make it in under 20 pics?
